Sixteen capstone students completed their spring semester projects, the students were divided into two separate groups and presented to a panel of industry experts for the Colvin first place prize of $1,000!
On Friday night, May 12, the competition kicked off with 7 students presenting. Judges included Jay Krigsman, The Krausz Companies, Blaise Rastello, Gilbane Development Company, Steven Shapiro, American University School of Law and Adrian Washington, Neighborhood Development Company. Congratulations to first place winner Ed Cahan for his project, Paint Park, College Park, MD! Jingjing Liu was awarded second place for, Midnight Village, College Park, MD and Laura Burns took third place with her project, The Square at College Park, College Park, MD. All three winners were mentored by Tim Pula and
Madlen Simon.
On Saturday, May 13, the competition heated up again as 9 students presented for the top prize. Judges included Van Anderson, Revere Bank, Jeff Certosimo, Atlantic Realty Companies, Maria Day-Marshall, Attorney at Law and Joshua Wooldridge, NRP Group. Top prize went to David Brotman for his project, Locust Grove, Columbia, MD with mentor Marcus Ervin. Second place was awarded to Celine Liang, The V at Wheaton, Wheaton, MD with mentor Jim Agliata. Christopher Carman was awarded third place for West Park Village, Frederick, MD with mentor Scott Armiger. Lastly, honorable mention went to Oluwatobi Thomas for her project, Skyview, Wheaton, MD with mentor Jim Agliata.
