2012 PhD graduate Aysegul Yilmaz has been selected to be part of the Kucukyali ArkeoPark project in Istanbul. The project, run by faculty from Koc University, tries to involve the local community in various activities regarding the development of the site. The project is supported by the Istanbul Development Agency and is also part of the EU project, LIMEN: Cultural Ports from Aegean to the Black Sea, where the major aim is to develop cultural tourism in the wider Black Sea region, connecting a number of cultural port cities in the Aegean and Black Sea regions. Aysegul’s role in the project is community engagement and development; she will be coordinating social and cultural development activities organized primarily for school kids, youth, and women. She will also continue teaching at Bogazici University in Istanbul during the fall semester.
