This report offers an overview and assessment of archaeological resources found along the 41.2-mile section of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail (AT) located within the State of Maryland. The scope of the work was to compile all existing records pertaining to archaeological resources for the area under investigation, field-check and provide conditions assessments for the 26 previously recorded sites, document any additional archaeological resources discovered during the field survey, summarize the current state of archaeological knowledge for this section of the trail, and offer directions for future preservation and management of its archeological resources and collections. The recommendations provide guidance on the factors related to preserving the documented remains, and identify where future research is needed to optimize the preservation and management of both the known and potential resources.
