Project is a seven-episode podcast called “Building Hope” that introduces work from the School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation to a wider audience of University of Maryland students. The podcast and its accompanying website feature seven recent graduates in conversation about their environmentally visionary master’s thesis projects and their experiences bringing these ideas into the work world as intern architects.
Young people are challenged to maintain optimism in the face of the interlinked crises of climate action and social justice. Our students are hungry for examples of how they can make a difference. The podcast includes such practical innovations as designing for climate resilience; building with low-carbon materials; addressing environmental justice, food security and housing equity; and employing biophilic design and community collaboration.
Each episode page on the website includes curriculum materials, as well as show notes, transcripts, audio, video and a slide deck.
