Sustainable Maryland-Certified! | Meet the staff of the Sustainable Maryland program, and talk with them about their work with communities all across the state. Learn how your community can start a Green Team and create a Sustainability Action Plan. Visitors to the exhibit table will receive a free black-eyed Susan seed packet, Maryland's official state wildflower. | 10 AM | 2:00 PM |
Architectural Croquet | For those unfamiliar, croquet is a lawn game where mallets are used to knock heavy colored balls through a course of arches — known as wickets — in a set pattern. Our version has special wickets based on different architects and design styles. It can be played by as few as two people, or as many as six. It can also be played individually or in teams. Come play this fun game and learn about architecture! | 10:30 AM | 12:30 PM |
City Planning 101-Box City | Who builds cities? Who decides where the trees go? Who creates places for art? You do! Create your own cardboard building, explore urban design and collaborate on a model city. | 10:30 AM | 1:30 PM |
What do you know about flooding? | What do you know about flooding and sewage backup events? Did it happen after a storm or was it because of the way something was built? Learn about flooding with our SIRJ (Stormwater Infrastructure Resilience and Justice) Lab researchers and how it affects underserved communities in the region. | 12 PM Noon | 2 PM |
Preserving a Community's History | Are you looking for a fun way to mix history and place? Well you're in for a sweet treat! Join MAPP for a hands on experience crafting the house of your dreams using graham crackers, frosting, and pretzels. | 12:30 PM | 3:30 PM |
Architectural Sketching Anywhere! | Try a new skill as you learn about drawing from an architect's point of view, from the design of a building to travel sketching. Ages: middle school and up. | 1:30 PM | 2:30 PM |
