Ms. Berke is the founder of Deborah Berke Partners, a Manhattan-based architectural firm. She has taught at the University of Maryland, the University of Miami, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies, and she has won numerous design awards for her work, which includes Holcombe T. Green, Jr. Hall, the home of the Yale School of Art.
Ms. Berke’s work has been widely published in magazines as diverse as Architecture, Architectural Review, Architectural Record, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal and Vogue. She was a coeditor of several architectural publications, including "Architecture of the Everyday." A monograph of her work was published by Yale University Press in 2008. In 2005 the Rhode Island School of Design awarded her an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts.
