Therapeutic Painting sessions offer students a creative outlet through hands-on engagement with paint. This tactile experience aims to spark creativity and help students connect with the artistic aspects of working within built environment disciplines. It also provides a stress-relieving opportunity for personal expression in a freeform and relaxing environment.

The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Great Space and will include mindfulness exercises and restorative painting to use creative expression as a means of promoting emotional healing, relaxation and well-being. All painting supplies will be provided and snacks and coffee will be served.

The sessions are facilitated by Shahrzad Ateffi, a Master of Community Planning student and the School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation's JEDI graduate assistant. Shahrzad is also an illustrator and a therapeutic painting teacher.

The School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation JEDI Collective is a group of appointed faculty, staff and students committed to upholding justice, equity, diversity and inclusion as core values of the school. This event is part of the Wellbeing Initiative, a multi-format program designed to invite our school’s students, staff and faculty to invest in their well-being, restore themselves and reconnect with our community.
