Biography

Jen Cotting has close to twenty years of experience working to advance local-level environmental initiatives. She arrived at the Environmental Finance Center (EFC) in the fall of 2004 as a part-time Program Assistant supporting the logistical and administrative needs of grant funded projects. Within a few years, she joined the Center as a full-time Program Manager responsible for a number of environmental projects supported by grants from state and federal agencies, and in 2009, she began three years as Assistant Director. Recognizing a shift in the regulatory landscape and the resulting need for community-based water quality financing assistance, in 2012 Jen became the Center's first Research Associate for Green Infrastructure. In this role, she managed close to a dozen projects annually in communities throughout the Mid-Atlantic spanning large landscape conservation, habitat management, urban land use and stormwater management applications of green infrastructure. Jen was named EFC's Associate Director in 2017, Interim Director in 2018, and was appointed Director of the Center in January 2019. She holds an M.S. in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in Communications from Marymount University.
