Khairun Fahmi
I am Fahmi, a graduate student in the Community Planning Program at the University of Maryland. I hold an undergraduate degree in architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. I have worked as a community architect with the Platform of Community Action and Architecture (POCAA), in collaboration with the Asian Coalition for Housing Rights, focusing on developing community-led, healthy neighborhoods for the urban poor through housing and shared spaces. As a research architect I have studied marginalized communities migrating from coastal areas to overcrowded slums in the capital city of Bangladesh. My primary interest lies in understanding how communities interact within their built environment and how these interactions shape their collective identity.
