With a grant from the Prince George’s County Stormwater Stewardship Grant Program, the University of Maryland (UMD) Environmental Finance Center (EFC) worked with four homeowner associations (Brinkley Station HOA, Vista Estates West HOA, Wyndham Woods HOA, & Residences at Victory Promenade HOA) and two civic associations (Oxon Hill CA and University Hills CA) to develop personalized Sustainability Action Plans. Sustainability action plans detail how organizations can achieve sustainability goals over time. The UMD EFC also hosted a County-wide Sustainability Summit that brought more than 65 Prince George’s County residents together to share ideas and discuss stormwater management practices that can be implemented in their community. Six Green Teams, comprised of 34 individuals, were formed to help the communities be more environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable.
This award builds upon the Sustainable Maryland Residential Action Framework that was piloted in a previous Stormwater Stewardship grant award; both awards successfully engaged homeowner associations, civic associations, and residents while providing opportunities for collaboration.
