Developing a Climate Wise Academy for Prince George's County, MD

The University of Maryland's Environmental Finance Center (EFC) is developing the Climate Wise Academy to strengthen climate resilience in Prince George’s County. Supported by the Prince George’s County Stormwater Stewardship Grant Program, this pilot program will support local climate preparedness through training and capacity building for Green Teams and community members.

The aim of the project is to enhance local climate resilience by developing a comprehensive climate-specific training curriculum and toolkit. The program will recruit 5-10 participants for its inaugural cohort and provide mentorship for participants as they design and implement their own capstone climate projects. Key project deliverables include establishing a Project Advisory Group to guide the curriculum development process, facilitating an eight-part training series with a target retention rate of 80%, and offering ongoing support to help participants execute community-driven climate resilience projects. These efforts will build capacity and foster climate action in Prince George’s County communities.
