This project is divided into 3 parts: Analysis, 2D Composition, and 3D Transformation. Students analyzed a Renaissance or Baroque painting. This idea is to extract the most essential elements of an assigned painting and transform them into architectonic relationships; a CUBE object. The project will reveal spatial layering, volumetric continuity, and the phenomenon of transparency. This phenomenon involves the superimposition of spatial layers, which is critical to understanding the unique spatial qualities found in modernist architectural projects.
