Welcome to the Colvin Institute of Real Estate Development at the University of Maryland. Established in 2008 by John and Karen Colvin, the Colvin Institute is the foundational driving force behind Maryland’s Master of Real Estate Development Program, providing support, engagement, and unique opportunities to our students. What’s more, the Colvin Institute supports the research, continuing education, and service activities that fuel a robust and sustainable real estate development industry.
The spirit of the Colvin Institute emulates the principles and philosophies of John Colvin. John was a tireless proponent of community engagement, and of sustainable and thoughtful development. He reveled in working with students as they developed their careers. Through the Institute, we strive to expand people’s knowledge of the impacts of these tenets, and how they can transform communities and the people who live in them. We are proud to continue John’s legacy at the Colvin Institute.
